Geordi has been the gift of a second chance. We took so much time and effort researching different stud dogs that would be genetically diverse and compliment breeding Jaylah. We found a gorgeous male that fit our high standards. We were so optimistic and excited; contacted his owner and anticipated this dream breeding almost a year out. We planned for fresh chilled shipments. Sadly, two days before the breeding could take place, the five year old stud dog died of stomach cancer. We were stunned and shocked! Then to complicate the breeding further, our backup stud was unavailable and there were not any current studs up-to-date on health testing plus fresh chill tested. Everything was pointing us toward moving forward with the frozen semen we had stored from our beloved Data.

At that time there had only been one successful frozen semen breeding in the history of the Entlebucher breed (and so many stories of failures). There was much to gain if we took the risk on frozen and it worked plus the timing for a litter was right for us. Patrick and I looked at each other and agreed- 'Let's do it'! Waiting for that ultrasound appointment was difficult. We tried not to get our hopes up but also knew many others breeds have routine success with frozen semen. I will never forget the incredible feeling when we saw multiple babies on that ultrasound - immediate goosebumps and tears!

We had not planned on adding a new family member and logically, keeping a full sibling to Risa was not what we imagined for our breeding program or living situation... But often letting go of what we think should happen, opens up even greater possibilities. Life is about taking chances and seizing opportunities. When the puppies were born, we could not deny there was one special boy that was destined to be ours. He was a carbon copy of his father, right down to the small, white "Swiss Kiss" on his neck. There were so many "signs", it was undeniable. It was as if Data handpicked and autographed this little puppy. In our first litter, we felt a strong connection to Risa yet we also felt pulled toward the only boy. Our family "fit" and dynamics won out in keeping Risa. Yet in every litter Data sired, he always threw a carbon copy of himself. We had wished that it would have worked out to have a Data son. This was our second chance!

One of Data's lessons was showing us how love lives on after the devastating loss of Bayla. Yes,Geordi looks so much like his dad and yet his mom's genetics are also very strong. Geordi is his own dude, an interesting combination and quite the character. Geordi is bold, confident, and optimistically curious, which can get him in trouble! He is friendly with strangers, charming and thinks very highly of himself. He is also a risk taker with little regard for his body or safety, luckily he's also resilient. Geordi is a happy, opportunistic, cuddly lovebug with a natural bob tail.

• Geordi earned his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title and Trick Dog Novice TKN (title) September 3, 2022, 1 day before he turned 6 months.
• Geordi earned his first AKC Scent Work titles in his debut trial: Scent Work Containers (SCN) & Scent Work Interior (SIN) Novice titles April 23, 2023.
• Geordi earned his NADD- North American Dock Diving (recognized by AKC) Novice Dock (DN) title August 19, 2023.

We joke that his knickname is G-Force. Geordi is very enthusiastic in everything he does! He is a force to be reckoned with and lets his presence be known! He can shine and light up a room with dignity being thoughtful and quiet, then when it's his turn in the spotlight (often during exciting sports) he bursts into action with loud, commanding barking, power and energy! I have had many judges, spectators and fellow competitors tell me they see how easy going and calm he is outside the ring, hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere, and they expect him to be lower energy or a "dud" but WOW they did not expect the flashy, commanding presence he brings.

As a new experience for both of us, it seemed fun to explore the sport of dock diving with Geordi. A new outdoor facility- Country Paws Athletic Center opened close to our home. I knew there were entlebuchers that loved to swim. I was also interested in the health benefits of non-weight bearing exercise for our solid boned, long-back dogs. Entlebuchers are not known for being water dogs. To begin our adventure, I asked for tips from our dog training friends with experience. I always gave Geordi the choice while encouraging him and finding ways to entice him (cheeseballs, high value treats and toys).

He is focussed, intense and driven while working; he has higher energy yet does have an "off" button. Geordi has solid bone and a moderate athletic build with balanced, sound structure.
